Beware of Predatory Towing Practices

The latest weather conditions and limited parking can make it easy pickings for some dishonest truck companies – so be aware of predatory towing practices.

Predatory towing includes tactics such as not posting adequate signs in parking lots to lure drivers, and using spotters equipped with binoculars and walkie-talkies to quickly send for tow trucks. Easy money for a dishonest tow company especially since off street parking is at a minimum right now.

The bright side, smoking and methamphetamine abuse are on the decline.

Washington State Foster Parent Survey: Substandard

I’m amazed that the Spokesman Review didn’t pick this story up off the Associate Press, oh but wait, I forgot the S.R only exploits children when it benefits their circulation.

I read this story yesterday in the Seattle P.I.and by the way for those of you who would like to know — it is free to access the news on the Seattle P.I. unlike the Cowles Review.

Here is the story: Foster parents survey gives state controversial marks Here are some highlights

1.) 38% of foster children received visits from case workers

2.) Less than half of the children had twice monthly sibling visits

3.) Protective measures for sexually and physically aggressive children were not in place

4.) 1000 of the 3,800 foster parents could not be reached because of disconnected numbers DSHS Secretary , Robin Arnold-Williams basically shrugs off the report stating that the DSHS is doing the best they can do even though the state has pumped an additional $ 60 million and 300 additional caseworkers during the current Biennium.

DSHS is failing these children…. How can caseworkers sleep at night. I am sure there are caseworkers who actually care. There is no room for error here. These children are disgarded by so called parents who are not competant. Even if one child falls through the system and dies – it is one death too many. What about these 900+ phone numbers that are dissconnected ?

Are these foster home still receiving money from the state ? Its sounds to me like nothing has changed. Why are only 38% of the children in this system receiving visits from caseworkers ?? DSHS is corrupt, and just another form of welfare for the people who work for DSHS. We need to reform DSHS and to do that we need to throw out Govenor Chris Gregoire in the next election.
