Early Saturday morning, May 12th, Spokane County deputies arrested 51 year-old Mark A. Gregory after a tire store employee arrived to work and observed a suspicious truck parked next to a trailer at his business which is located near the 1100 block of West Francis Avenue. The business has been victimized by several thefts recently and the employee did not recognize the vehicle parked next to the trailer.
The employee parked his vehicle behind the truck and saw two tires had been placed in the bed of the truck from the trailer. The employee confronted an adult male and female walking out of the trailer and told them he had called police. Both suspects did not say anything and walked away in separate directions. Sheriff's deputies later determined the truck had been stolen out of Lincoln County.
Deputies responding to the area contacted a man walking down Stevens Street matching the suspect description. Deputy Truman detained the suspect who initially gave police a false name. but later admitted his name was Mark Gregory. Gregory told deputies he had a warrant for his arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Gregory admitted he was at the tire business with his friend "Mandy" and drove the truck, which he had borrowed from a friend. Gregory admitted they were there to steal tires.In addition, Gregory told deputies he had meth in this pocket "but that it wasn’t his.
Gregory was booked into the Spokane County Jail on the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Third Degree Theft and an arrest warrant
