Son Arrested For Burglary, and Arson
Sheriff’s deputies arrested 21-year-old Joseph S. Reese at his friend’s apartment on two felony charges of arson and residential burglary after Reece allegedly broke in his own parent’s home and set it on fire, and to pour salt in the wound Reece also took off with his parent’s pet Chihuahua. No it’s not a type of car, it’s a dog.
Apparently this incident began about 2:50 a.m. when a house sitter called 911 to report that a man had broken into the home located in the 6400 block of South Chapman Road and set it afire. The witness saw the burglar leap out of the kitchen window.
After an investigation deputies determined Reece to be a suspect. Police learned he had been kicked out of his parent’s home for an ongoing drug problem and he was also a suspect in a July 24th burglary.
It is believed by investigators that Reese used aerosol cans to ignite the fires inside the home and garage. They seized two cans from the scene for forensic examination.
The case is still under investigation.
The Number 2 Vandal Arrested
Early Sunday morning a Spokane Valley Police sergeant found and arrested a suspect in a year-long series of incidents in which the suspect splashed human waste – yep HUMAN WASTE on Dishman-area businesses.
The spree began early in July 2007 when employees began arriving to their places of work and finding diluted human shedooby splashed or smeared on the walls and doors of their businesses.
The fecal matter appeared to be mixed with water. How gross…..Who mixes that and worse, who gets that close to determine that the “fecal matter was diluted”.
At least one business was hit seven or more times, but there did not appear to be a particular type of business or specific owner that was targeted.
On Saturday night a Spokane Valley Police Sergeant was patrolling the area and encountered several employees that were hiding in the area and keeping watch on their business. They told him they would not be there all night.
Shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday, the Sergeant drove through the area again. The employees were gone and he spotted fecal matter splashed on the business.
He began checking the roads leading away from the area and found 53-year-old John Rubint traveling south on Farr Road in a motorized wheelchair AND found from Rubint’s wheelchair was - A plastic bucket!
Rubint was driven to the Spokane County Jail and booked on his two felony charges of First Degree Malicious Mischief.
